I LOVE the idea of baking soda, how hard would it be to get out of the crannies and how did it get there in the first place? A scrub? It can’t get to everywhere you want. Otherwise, I’d say baking soda.
My idea is denture tablets… it is a cleaner and it’s made for going where a brush can’t go. Just dip the band/links into the solution and the action will do the work, then scrub with an old (cleaned) toothbrush for any particles that might come off and then rince and dry/polish with a cloth. Just remember to leave the links in the solution for the recommended amount of time that the tablets say, probably overnight. (just use a pair of sticks supending the face out of the solution so the working parts don’t get wet.)
